It wasn't a paper bag on David Soul's head, it was a ski mask, or balaclava.  So he looked more like he was about to rob a liquor store.  :)

Hey stranger!  I've been lax about blogging but I'm getting back into it now.  I'm finally back with the State Patrol, which is home for me and posted in my blogs.  About that CD,  I know most of those songs and they're great, but I don't want to envision David Soul singing.  LMAO!  Hope you are doing well!  Come by sometime.  Take care!

I wish I could take complete credit for this disc, but I can't.  The Richmeister - ex-DJ and pure audiophile - was the source.  It's one of my favorites, and besides the Freddy Fender cut, you've listed many of my favorites.  Amos Moses by Jerry Reed would be a good replacement :)

A few memories to go along with the songs listed:
 - Brandy is probably my favorite song from a one-hit wonder.  It probably helps that my brother was dating a girl named Brandi (with an "i", because she wanted to be taken seriously) about the time the song was popular
 - My nephew had a 45 of Kung Fu Fighting.  You would not believe the "Kill Bill"-like moves we came up for that one
 - I Just Wanna Stop always made me think that Montreal was a place like Paris (not Illinois, but France) - a place where the love was hot!
 - I can still picture Leo Sayer's album cover.  Today he makes me think of Richard Simmons.
 - I can still remember the time I sang to Afternoon Delight on WLS while going to dentist appointment with my mom.  Didn't think about the lyrics until after I was done.  Luckily she never said a word...
 - And I contend that I'm Not In Love is one of the scariest songs to listen to when you're a kid.  "Be quiet, big boys don't cry" still sends shivers up my back.  Even as I type...

Thanks for the memories, man.

The name of the song I'm looking for is "Couldn't Get It Right" by the Climax Blues Band.  I remembered!

Haha ... "Don't give up on us baby ..."  Wow that's an oldie and a one hit wonder or at least I hope.  I hear these songs everyday on Sirius Radio Totally 70's.  I actually bought "Lonely Boy" on MSN Music the other day.  I still can't find that song and I can't even remember the name of the song now.  The Climax band I think.  I haven't heard of numbers 8, 9, 12, 19 and 24.  What about "The things we do for love" or "Magnet and Steel" or "So Into You" or so many others.  The 70's was an interesting time for music.  I'd LOVE a copy of our CD.  I guess I like the 70's music so much b/c I was born in '71.  My hippie cousins would babysit me and jam out.  My cousin always bugs me about Knock Three Times.  Why didn't he just phone her instead?  I think Brandy was totally wasting her time with that guy.  He was NEVER going to love her.  I think it was an excuse.  He probably had some other chick on the other side of the ocean.  My favorite of all those would have to be War ... "Good GOD ya'll!"  Man I can go on all day.  You've touched a nerve in me.  I just love music but oldies especially.  I'm listening to "Kiss You All Over" right now.  Now it's "You're so Vain."  Who was it Warren Beatty or James Taylor?  Sorry for the huge comments.  Great blog!  Fantastico!! Encore!

I love 10cc!  What  a great list!  Dweeb's new band is actually playing some of these songs.  The only song on this list that needs to just go away is 'Afternoon Delight'.  What a stupid song!!  I HATE that song!

Leave it to Chris to have such a great line up on one CD!

I actually have some of these already, believe it or not dude. I'd love a cd though, if you have a chance. Let me see what I can see in my own music library and get back to you.

I can tell you, off the top of my head, which of these song not to put on because I hate it and might be forced to get on a plane and hunt you down if you were to send it to me: 21. Knock Three Times - Tony Orlando and Dawn (stupid, stupid song...my mom has it on a cd).

I actually like most of the others, at least the ones I know...which is about half. Love me some "It Never Rains in Southern California" ("...it pours, MAN it pours") - "Brandy, You're a Fine Girl" ("....what a GOOD wife you would be...") - "Midnight At The Oasis" ("put your camel to bed...") - "Alone Again, Naturally" ("...in a little while from now, if I'm not feeling any less sour...I've promised myself to treat myself and visit a nearby tower") - "Afternoon Delight" ("sky rockets in flight *zooooooooom*...") - and "War" ("*UGH!* What is it good for? Absolutely nothin'...")

Did you know that David Soul first appeared on The Merv Griffen show as The Unknown Singer. He would sing with a paper bag over his head, just like The Unknown Comic. He felt his good looks would detract from his singing. He wanted to be taken seriously as a singer. Tall order when you have a bag over your head.
